I personally love Shell Beach. Just around the bend in the road north of Pismo Beach lies the city of Shell Beach which is one of  the most scenic spots you'll ever find. There are rugged cliffs, rocks jutting out of the water, and crevice-filled rocks with sand crabs. Best of all there is also a sandy beach that is protected between the rock formations which make for an afternoon or day adventure. The main attraction in this little town are the home vistas of the Pacific Ocean. You can rive down to Ocean Boulevard where parking and a set of stairs provide access to the sandy beach below. You will often see sports enthusiasts carry their kayaks down the the 100 or so steps to launch off from the beach.  There's a perfect lookout gazebo in a very small  Margo Dodd park.
